Royal Scots Regimental Tie
The Royal Scots — Pontius Pilate's Bodyguard — were the oldest and most senior infantry regiment in the British Army, with a lineage stretching back to 1633, making them older than the Army itself. Raised in Scotland for service in France, the Royal Scots accumulated more battle honours than any other regiment in the British Army over nearly four centuries of continuous service — from Tangier and Blenheim to the Somme, El Alamein and Korea. They were the first regiment on the Army List and the last to leave it when they amalgamated into the Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006 as the 1st Battalion. The thistle, the St Andrew's Cross and the motto Nemo Me Impune Lacessit — No One Provokes Me with Impunity — sum up four centuries of Scottish military pride.
