Royal Gurkha Rifles Regimental Tie
The Royal Gurkha Rifles were formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of the four remaining British Gurkha infantry regiments, bringing together a fighting tradition that stretches back to 1815. Gurkha soldiers from Nepal have served the British Crown with extraordinary distinction for over two centuries — earning more Victoria Crosses and gallantry awards per capita than any other regiment in the British Army. Their motto, Kaphar hunnu bhanda marnu ramro — It is better to die than to be a coward — says everything about the standard they hold themselves to. Today the RGR continues to serve on operations worldwide, as formidable as ever.
