The Queen's Royal Hussars
The Queen's Royal Hussars hold the distinction of being the most senior armoured regiment in the British Army — a title that carries the weight of a lineage stretching back through two of the most celebrated cavalry regiments in British military history: the Queen's Own Hussars and the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars, themselves descended from regiments raised in the late 17th century.
Formed in 1993 through the amalgamation of those two distinguished regiments, the QRH inherited a combined battle honour list that spans Dettingen, Waterloo, the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava, the Boer War, both World Wars, and operations in the Gulf, the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. It is a record of continuous service and distinction that few regiments anywhere in the world can match.
Today the QRH operate the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank — one of the most capable and best-protected tanks in the world — and maintain the armoured cavalry tradition of speed, aggression, and shock action that has defined British heavy cavalry for three centuries. Their motto, Mens et Manus (Mind and Hand), speaks to the combination of tactical intelligence and physical courage that defines the regiment's character.
This tie is for those who have served with the QRH, or who simply know what it means to be the best.
