Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders Regimental Tie
The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders were one of Scotland's most celebrated Highland regiments, raised in 1793 by Sir Alan Cameron of Erracht from the men of Lochaber and the western Highlands.
The only regiment in the British Army to have been raised by a private individual without government funding, the Camerons went on to serve with extraordinary distinction at Waterloo, in the Crimea, on the North-West Frontier, and through both World Wars — including the desperate fighting at Ypres and the Somme.
The regiment amalgamated with the Seaforth Highlanders in 1961 to form the Queen's Own Highlanders, and their lineage ultimately passed into the Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006. The Cameron tartan and the French eagle badge — captured at Waterloo — remain among the most distinctive symbols in Scottish military heritage.
This regimental tie carries the Cameron Highlanders' colours with the Highland pride that has always defined this remarkable regiment.
