Regimental Heritage
Formed on 1 January 1966, the Royal Green Jackets brought together the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and the Rifle Brigade. Renowned for speed, marksmanship and independence, the regiment served in Northern Ireland, the Gulf, Bosnia and Iraq before becoming a founding constituent of The Rifles in 2007.
This display commemorates the Royal Green Jackets’ service from 1966 to 2007 and the rifle traditions carried forward by the regiment.

About the Badge
The badge draws on the heritage of the regiment’s three antecedents. A central bugle horn, the traditional light infantry and rifle emblem, sits within a Maltese cross adapted from the badges of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and the Rifle Brigade. Selected battle honours appear on the arms of the cross, surrounded by a laurel wreath.
A Naval Crown at the base commemorates the Rifle Brigade’s service at Copenhagen in 1801, while St Edward’s Crown surmounts the badge.
A Regimental Keepsake
A fitting retirement or service gift for a Royal Green Jackets veteran, or an addition to a regimental display. A thoughtful choice for military collectors and those with a connection to Royal Green Jackets and The Rifles history.
