The de Havilland Mosquito, nicknamed the "Wooden Wonder," was a highly versatile, twin-engine, multirole combat aircraft used by the RAF during World War II, serving as a fast bomber, fighter-bomber, night fighter, reconnaissance plane, and anti-shipping strike aircraft, known for its innovative wooden construction and speed.
The plane first flew on the 25th November 1940. In 1941 it became one of the fastest operational aircraft in the world, capable of out-pacing the Spitfire of the day by 19mph! A total of 7781 were built and the RAF finally retired the type in 1963
