The Light Infantry story
Formed in 1968 through the amalgamation of four distinguished county light infantry regiments, the Light Infantry brought together a proud tradition of fieldcraft, speed, marksmanship and independent action. Its soldiers served in Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands, Bosnia, Iraq and other campaigns before the regiment became part of The Rifles in 2007.
About the badge
The cap badge features a bugle horn with strings, the traditional symbol of light infantry regiments that used bugle calls rather than drums to command troops in the field. The red centre backing faithfully reproduces the appearance of the badge as worn on the beret in service.
