About the Household Cavalry
Raised in 1660 by King Charles II following the Restoration, the Household Cavalry has served as the Sovereign’s Mounted Bodyguard without interruption ever since. The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals together form a regiment that is both ceremonial and operational — from Changing the Guard at Horse Guards to armoured reconnaissance on operations worldwide.

The Queen’s Crown Cap Badge bears the Royal Cypher EIIR of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, enclosed within the Garter — Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense — surmounted by the Tudor Crown. The pattern worn throughout Her Majesty’s reign, by both The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals. A piece of regimental history that marks an era.
