The 17th/21st Lancers carry one of the most iconic mottos in the British Army — Death or Glory — and a history to match. Amalgamated in 1922 from two distinguished lancer regiments, they quickly earned a reputation for peerless military efficiency, serving with distinction across North Africa and Italy in the Second World War.
Even the abolition of the lance did nothing to diminish their reputation as a fearsome spearhead force. In more recent times, the regiment served in a wartime medical role during the 1991 Gulf War — a testament to their adaptability and enduring commitment to service.
