1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment — one of the most elite and battle-hardened units in the British Army. The Parachute Regiment was formed in 1942 at Churchill's personal direction, and 1 PARA has been at the sharp end ever since. From the bloody streets of Aden and the horrors of Bloody Sunday to the Falklands, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan, 1 PARA has operated in the most demanding environments the British Army has faced.
