Royal Regiment of Wales Regimental Tie
The Royal Regiment of Wales was formed in 1969 from the amalgamation of the South Wales Borderers and the Welch Regiment, uniting two regiments with a combined lineage stretching back to 1689. The South Wales Borderers are perhaps best remembered for the defence of Rorke's Drift in January 1879, where 150 soldiers held off an impi of over 3,000 Zulu warriors — an action that resulted in eleven Victoria Crosses, the most awarded for a single engagement in British military history. The RRW served in Northern Ireland, the Falklands and Bosnia before amalgamating into the Royal Welsh in 2006, carrying that extraordinary heritage forward.
This regimental tie is a mark of Welsh military pride — worn with the same determination that has defined the regiment from Rorke's Drift to the present day.
