History.
HMS Victory is one of the most famous warships in British naval history, best known as Admiral Horatio Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Launched in 1765, Victory served in several major conflicts, including the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. A 104-gun first-rate ship of the line, she was considered state-of-the-art in her day. At Trafalgar, Victory led the Royal Navy to a decisive victory against the combined French and Spanish fleets, though Nelson was fatally wounded during the battle. After decades of service, she was retired from active duty and preserved. Today, HMS Victory is permanently docked in Portsmouth, serving as a museum and enduring symbol of British naval heritage.
