History.
The Boeing 747, known as Air Force One when the President of the United States is aboard, symbolises power and prestige. Its role as the Presidential aircraft began in the 1990s when two Boeing 747-200B models, tail numbers 28000 and 29000, were delivered to the United States Air Force. These aircraft, designated VC-25A, replaced the earlier Boeing 707s that had served since the 1960s.The 747 Air Force One was equipped with advanced communication systems, allowing the President to command military operations mid-flight. The iconic aircraft's design includes a conference room, private office, and a medical suite, providing a fully functional flying White House. Over the decades, it has transported Presidents through significant moments in history, from diplomatic missions to crises. In 2021, Boeing was tasked with creating the next generation, the VC-25B, which will ensure the 747's enduring legacy in the Presidential fleet.
