9th/12th Royal Lancers Regimental Tie
The 9th/12th Royal Lancers were formed in 1960 from the amalgamation of the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers and the 12th Royal Lancers, bringing together two cavalry regiments with roots stretching back to 1715. The 9th Lancers were among the first British cavalry to arrive in France in 1914, and both regiments served with distinction in the Western Desert in the Second World War, where the 12th Lancers' armoured cars played a critical role in the long-range reconnaissance that shaped the North Africa campaign.
The 9th/12th served in Germany throughout the Cold War before amalgamating into the Queen's Royal Lancers in 1993, which itself became The Royal Lancers in 2015 — carrying a lancer tradition that spans three centuries of British cavalry history. The crossed lances and the distinctive scarlet and yellow remain among the most recognisable cavalry colours in the Army.
This regimental tie carries those colours with the dash and precision that lancers have always brought to the battlefield.
