The Bombay Grenadiers were one of the most distinguished infantry regiments of the British Indian Army, with a history stretching back to the 18th century. Raised to serve the East India Company and later the Crown, they earned a formidable reputation across campaigns on the subcontinent and far beyond its borders.
During the First World War, the regiment served in the demanding Mesopotamia and Middle East campaigns — some of the most gruelling theatres of that conflict. Their lineage carried forward into the Second World War, where the Grenadiers continued to serve across multiple fronts, upholding a fighting tradition that spanned generations and continents.
