Regimental Heritage
The 9th/12th Royal Lancers were formed in 1960 through the amalgamation of the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers and the 12th Royal Lancers. Their battle honours run from the Peninsular War to the Gulf, reflecting a cavalry tradition built through three centuries of service.
The cap badge features the Prince of Wales's feathers, three ostrich feathers above the motto Ich Dien, meaning "I Serve". This distinction recognises the regiment's close association with the Prince of Wales and brings the heritage of both founding regiments together in one striking design.
